Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum algorithms for optimization and machine learning applications
- Lead cross-functional teams in developing error-corrected qubit systems
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to translate theoretical models into scalable quantum processors
- Secure and manage research grants from NSF, DARPA, and private sector partners
- Present findings at IEEE Quantum Week and similar premier conferences
- Mentor postdoctoral researchers and contribute to quantum education initiatives
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or related field with 3+ years research experience
- Published work in Nature/Science or equivalent tier journals on quantum information theory
- Expertise in quantum programming languages (Qiskit, Cirq) and simulation frameworks
- Strong background in topological quantum computing or quantum annealing
- Proven ability to secure federal research funding (NSF/DARPA proposals)
- Experience with cryogenic quantum systems and superconducting qubit manipulation
- Excellent written communication skills for technical documentation and grant writing
