We're seeking a pioneering Quantum Computing Research Scientist to architect breakthrough solutions in cryptography, optimization, and materials science. In this role, you'll collaborate with Nobel laureates and industry disruptors in our state-of-the-art Austin facility, leveraging our 128-qubit quantum processor to solve previously unsolvable problems.
Our team operates at the intersection of theoretical physics and practical application, developing quantum algorithms that will power next-generation AI systems and secure global communications. Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum algorithms for real-world optimization problems
- Lead research initiatives in quantum error correction and fault-tolerant computing
- Collaborate with hardware teams to develop quantum-optimized software stacks
- Publish findings in Nature/Science journals and present at IEEE Quantum Week
- Mentor postdoctoral researchers in quantum machine learning techniques
- Secure $5M+ in government/industry grants for quantum research initiatives
- Develop quantum cryptographic protocols for 2026 security standards
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on quantum programming (Qiskit, Cirq, or Q#)
- Published research in quantum algorithms or quantum information theory
- Expertise in superconducting qubit systems or topological quantum computing
- Strong background in linear algebra, probability theory, and complex analysis
- Experience with cloud quantum platforms (IBM Quantum, Amazon Braket)
- Demonstrated ability to secure competitive research funding
- US citizenship or permanent residency required for government projects
